Data Sphere now supplies imagery from Orbview, the Singapore-based distributor of high-resolution satellite data from across the Asia-Pacific region. From today, Orbview’s optical archive appears in Data Sphere searches alongside every other source on the platform.
What it adds
Orbview brings very-high-resolution optical imagery from five constellations to Data Sphere:
- SuperView Neo-1, at 30 cm, with four satellites revisiting most places about once a day
- SuperView Neo-3, at 50 cm, with eight spectral bands and a 130 km swath for wide-area work
- SuperView-1, at 50 cm
- Beijing-3N, at 30 cm, able to look up to 45 degrees off nadir
- Beijing-3A, at 50 cm
Collections come in mono and stereo, and tri-stereo on Beijing-3, which matters for anyone building elevation models or measuring change in three dimensions.
Why it matters to buyers
At 30 cm you can count vehicles in a car park, see the state of a roof after a storm, or confirm that a site is working. That is the level of detail much insurance, lending and investigative work needs.
Through Data Sphere, Orbview’s imagery arrives the same way as every other supplier’s, through one API and as STAC items, with a Quality Award grading its metadata and its licence terms shown before you commit. If you already search Data Sphere, you do not need to change anything to see it.
Archive search is live today, and ordering will follow.
Working with Orbview
Orbview’s team has more than twenty years of experience distributing imagery and brings access to optical, hyperspectral, night, video and SAR products from the region. We look forward to bringing more of that catalogue onto Data Sphere.
